Living in a time when convenience and disposability dominate our society always gives me cause to reexamine the purpose of my work.

My intention in making utilitarian pieces is to create products that will be enduring and ones that can be passed on to others over time.

There is a particular fondness I feel for a few pieces of furniture in my home that I grew up with. It is the comforting feeling of the familiar, the enduring, and that which holds treasured stories from the past.

Perhaps as importantly, they are objects that are designed to highlight the inherent beauty and delicacy found in natural materials from around the world.

By creating a structure that is simple in design, I hope to frame the exquisite color, movement, and composition found in both stone and Japanese paper.
